This blog is to share our story on why we bought an Airstream trailer and all that we have done, are doing, and need to do to it.
We have both camped throughout our lives. Our adult lives have been spent camping in a tent. Over the years we have progressed from 1″ Thermarest mattresses, to 2″ Thermarest mattresses, to a blow-up mattress. We had a tent that was approximately 3′ high and updated to one that is approximately 6′ high so we can stand up in it. The one constant has been rain. We have been known to spend many weekends in the rain. There was a trip when the rain didn’t let up, so we drove into town. When we returned to the campsite, the sleeping bags were literally floating in the tent on top of the Thermarests. On our annual camping vacation we are almost guaranteed to have rain 7 out of 10 days.
Granted we have good rain gear and a pop-up canopy. However, in 2009, on our week+ trip it either rained or the humidity was at least 95% every day. I can be dramatic, but even I couldn’t dream this up. Everything was wet and soggy. We pulled into a campground and there was a small silver trailer. We knocked on the door to inquire about firewood. After that I was convinced we needed a trailer.
Mr. C was big on the idea of a teardrop trailer and later on the trip we saw one. I said, “what do you do with your wet clothes and muddy shoes? Where does your luggage go?” And so the search for the right trailer began.
